If you are trying to choose between an enclosed UTV and an open air UTV for your Smoky Mountain experience, this article and video will help guide your decision making process.
You shouldn’t have to decide between comfort and excitement and with this information, you won’t make the wrong selection.
This is a no nonsense guide to help you and your family make the right choice for the day.
Enclosed Units
Our fully enclosed units have doors, windows that roll up and down, and the ever important HVAC system so that your internal cabin can be adjusted to the temperature you desire regardless of the weather outside, similar to your vehicle at home.

These enclosed units are spacious with extra storage compartments and room for up to 6 passengers. In the back is a full bed where you can store everything you might need for the day.
Enclosed units will offer you the smoothest and quietest ride experience.
An additional benefit of the 6-seat enclosed units is that they offer a longer wheelbase and wider stance for extra control and stability.
Open Air Units
Open air units are typically more of a sporty look and feel that immerses you in your surroundings. These units will give you the most extreme and sporty feel throughout your day with increased power and performance.
This style of UTV can come in a wide variety of manufacturers and models. Seating will vary from 2-seaters and 4-seaters, and even all the way up to open air 6-seat versions.

You will of course have a windshield, but typically the sides have either half doors or are fully open in the large seating capacity units, with optional cargo netting in the doorways while you drive if that safety margin is desired.
On the sporty end of open air units, you frequently get a raspy and aggressive exhaust signature coupled with increased performance on the road. However, we do have open air units in our fleet that blend the open air experience with a more quiet and smooth ride.
What if it’s cold outside?
Obviously, the enclosed units will offer you and your family the best protection from the elements overall. But if you still want that open air sporty experience, we have you covered for the colder weather and winter months.

In each of our stores we have everything you will need to keep you warm when the weather is not cooperating. We have full snow suits, gloves, and blankets that you are free to use as part of your rental experience.
Additionally, we have hand warmers, bandanas, and goggles available for purchase for a nominal fee.
Once we get you outfitted for your Smoky Mountain UTV adventure, the cold takes a back seat and off you go. Nothing beats that incredible crisp, clean mountain air.
How Do You Decide?
So here is how to make your decision in 10 seconds.
If comfort and complete protection from the elements are your top priority, by all means choose the enclosed UTV. But if you want a more sporty unit and a more extreme look and feel, choose the open air unit and use the winter add-ons.
If you are bringing family members and you want the easiest and best protected ride experience, then choose the enclosed unit. But, if you are here for that incredible Smoky Mountain wow factor, open air units plus the winter gear is the best combo.
Either way, you’re going to have an amazing time. The key is ultimately choosing what fits you and your group best. We have a wide variety of UTV choices in each category, so pick the one that fits your desires best and fits the vision you have for your day.
